2013年GMAT考试：语法练习精讲（二十）

例：Like any star of similar mass would do, once the Sun has exhausted the hydrogen in its core, it expands into a red giant, eventually ejecting its outer envelope of gases to become a white dwarf.

原文意思： 象其他质量相同的星一样，一旦太阳消耗完了它的氢气，太阳就会扩张成红矮星，最终喷射 出一些气体变成白矮星。
题目分析： A 干掉，原因是 like any star 在逗号后面没有马上说谁不象那个 any star（记住，说了不 行必须是马上说，那个 once 不行） 。B 逗号后面用 hydrogen 就更不靠谱了，干掉。C 中的 it will expand 中的 it 按照道理应该指的是太阳，但是前面没有说过太阳，干掉。D as any star，逗号后面说氢气，不行，干掉（为什么 C 我不这么讲，因为 C 前面加了 in the case of）E 为什么 once 就没有事情，因为不失前面的 any star 和后半句进行对比，是 the case 和后面的某个 case 进行对比，once 就已经开始说 case 了，没有问题，并且 it 指的太阳前 面说过，没有问题，选 E。
