虽然这个东西是临时的并且比另外一个 amplifier 贵，但是这个东西由于能生成更好的tones 而收到一些人的喜爱。
题目分析：
由于前面说 they， 我就希望逗号后面马上告诉我 they 是谁。 they 应该是另外一个 amplifier，因为说 they指的这个东西比 transistor-driven amplifiers更贵， 根据这点我们可以把 A，B，C 干掉。D 和 E 进行比较，D by many 找个介词短语所放的位置就会让我觉得这个 by 引导的介词短语是修饰 tones 的，不过根据语义我们很容易判断出这个介词短语不是修饰tones 的，而是这个 amplifiers 被很多专业人士喜欢，应该修饰 prefer 的，选 E。
